This ukiyo-e woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige was made in 1857 and belongs to the series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. It is no. 84 and sits in the autumn section. A path runs along a hilltop beneath tall pines, and a thatched teahouse stands to the right. Below, the autumn fields stretch out, and Mount Fuji appears in the distance. Utagawa Hiroshige, born Andō Tokutarō and also known as Andō Hiroshige, was a Japanese artist who worked in the ukiyo-e tradition. He is regarded as the last great master of that tradition, and his name remains closely tied to the form. His prints are a fine way to bring that heritage into a home.
