This is Jules Chéret's lithographic poster for a ball at the Moulin Rouge on the place Blanche, dated 1889. A woman in yellow rides a black donkey, and other women are mounted on donkeys nearby. Dancing figures fill the scene, and a red windmill stands in view. Chéret was a French painter and lithographer who became a master of Belle Époque poster art, and he has been called the father of the modern poster.
On your wall: Its warm yellows and reds and its lively, festive subject suit a living room, dining area, hallway or any space that welcomes some retro character.
