Painted in 1892, this work shows a scene from the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. A footbridge crosses one of the lagoons, and boats move across the water below. Childe Hassam, an American Impressionist known for his urban and coastal scenes, turned here to a busy city setting with water at its heart. The painting is now held in the Terra Foundation for American Art.
On your wall: Its city and waterside subject suits a study, a hallway or a living room, especially where a calm, open scene of water and bridges is welcome.
