Painted around 1902, this is an oil on canvas by Raoul Dufy showing the courtyard of the Louvre in Paris. Dufy signed it in the lower left corner with his name, R. Dufy. The painting measures roughly 53 by 62 centimetres. It later passed through a Paris gallery and a private collection in Lausanne, and it was shown in Paris in 1959 in an exhibition devoted to Dufy's work. It also appears in several books on the artist, which place it among the notable early paintings of his career.
On your wall: A Parisian scene of this kind suits a living room, study or hallway, where it adds a sense of place and a touch of art-historical character to modern interiors.
