Lance Parfum Rodo is an advertising poster made in France in 1896 by Alphonse Mucha. It promotes a perfume and belongs to the group of Art Nouveau posters in which Mucha placed women at the centre of the design. Mucha was a Czech painter and illustrator living in Paris at the time, and his stylised, decorative posters, above all those for Sarah Bernhardt, made him one of the best-known image-makers of the period. This poster shows how he applied that approach to the promotion of a fragrance.
On your wall: Its vintage advertising character suits a dressing room, bedroom, hallway or study, and works well alongside other retro posters in a gallery-style arrangement.
