Nihonbashi yukibare, which translates as Nihonbashi: Clearing after Snow, is a colour woodblock print made by Utagawa Hiroshige in 1856. It belongs to his series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, and its title tells us the moment he chose: the end of a snowfall at Nihonbashi. The print measures 36.3 by 24.1 cm and is upright in format. Hiroshige is remembered as an ukiyo-e artist, often called the last great master of that tradition. This view is a good example of the way the form turns a particular place and moment into a composed image.
On your wall: Its wintry subject suits calm spaces such as a hallway, study or bedroom, and it sits well in rooms that favour a restrained, Japanese-inspired look.

Utagawa Hiroshige, born Andō Tokutarō and also known as Andō Hiroshige, was a Japanese artist who worked in the ukiyo-e tradition. He is regarded as the last great master of that tradition, and his name remains closely tied to the form. His prints are a fine way to bring that heritage into a home.
