About this artwork

Perce-neige is Plate 33 from La plante et ses applications ornementales, a portfolio of printed plates in which plants serve as the starting point for decorative design. Here the snowdrop is shown in four separate ornamental patterns, each treating the nodding flower in its own way. The plate is captioned in English, French and German as Snowdrop, Perce-Neige and Das Schnee-Glöckchen, and signed J. Milesi. It belongs to the Art Nouveau tradition of turning natural forms into flowing, graceful pattern.

On your wall: Its gentle floral subject suits a hallway, bedroom, study or reading corner where a quiet vintage botanical touch is welcome.
