This still life from 1917 takes ranunculus flowers as its subject, a title that translates as 'Still Life with Ranunculi'. Augusto Giacometti painted it in oil on a panel. He was born in Stampa, in Grisons, and worked in the Art Nouveau and Symbolist circles. He is also remembered as one of the first abstract painters, and for his stained glass, murals and posters. Flowers offer a painter a simple, close subject, and here the genre invites you to look at them slowly.
On your wall: A floral still life like this suits a living room, hallway or study, where it can bring a quiet touch of nature to a modern interior.
