Cherries is a still life painted by Juan Gris in 1915, in oil on canvas. As the title says, cherries are its subject, an everyday motif of the kind still life painters have long returned to. Gris was a Spanish painter born in Madrid who worked mostly in France, and he is closely associated with Cubism. His work is regarded as among the most distinctive of that movement. The painting is now in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
On your wall: Its modern, abstract character and humble subject suit a kitchen, dining room, study or any living space that welcomes a thoughtful, contemporary touch.
