Evenlode is a textile designed by William Morris in 1883. It was made as a fabric using indigo discharge and block printing, a method in which the pattern is built up through printing by hand with blocks. The design is a floral pattern, and its colour comes from indigo, the deep blue dye long used for cloth. Morris was a leading figure in the British Arts and Crafts movement and helped revive traditional British textile arts and methods of production. Evenlode shows that interest in craft, in a repeating pattern designed for cloth.
On your wall: Its indigo tones and floral pattern suit living rooms, bedrooms and studies, especially where you want a calm, traditional note alongside natural materials and soft furnishings.
