This is a colour lithographic poster promoting Menton as a tourist destination, created by Roger Broders in 1923. It was printed in Paris by Cornille & Serre and advertised the town for the Chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée, the railway company that served the Mediterranean coast. The original measures 107 by 78 centimetres. Broders is best known for travel posters of French destinations, particularly the beaches of the Côte d'Azur and the ski resorts of the Alps, and this one belongs to that tradition of inviting travellers south.
On your wall: A good choice for a hallway, living room or study where a touch of Mediterranean travel nostalgia would be welcome.
