About this artwork
Sophie Taeuber-Arp painted this work in 1920 and gave it the title Composizione dada (testa con piatto), which points to a head and a plate among its elements. Sophie Taeuber-Arp was a Swiss artist whose work crossed many disciplines. She was a painter and sculptor, and she also designed textiles, furniture and interiors, worked as an architect, and was a dancer. That breadth makes her a distinctive figure, and her art reflects a creative curiosity that moved easily between fields.
