Paul Klee made this work in 1932, and its title, View into the Fertile Country, suggests a look across a landscape. It belongs to abstract art, so rather than a literal scene, it offers an abstraction for the viewer to explore in their own way. Klee painted it in oil on cardboard. The work is held at the Städel Museum. Klee was Swiss-born and German, and his individual style drew on expressionism, cubism and surrealism.
On your wall: An abstract piece like this suits a living room, study or hallway where a modern, thoughtful picture can sit comfortably and invite a second look.

Text based on Städel Museum.
Paul Klee was a Swiss-born German artist whose style was entirely his own. Over his career he drew on several movements, including expressionism, cubism and surrealism, and blended these influences into work that remains unmistakably his. For a Swiss customer, there is something pleasing in seeing a compatriot's imagination so distinctively at play.
