Jean d'Ylen designed this 1931 poster to promote Plombières-les-Bains. An elderly bald man in an orange and red robe springs energetically from a vehicle, a fur rug still beside him. Beneath him, the text lists 'Entérites. Rhumatismes' and promises 'Guéris à Plombières', so the humour does the selling: the cure is so effective that he can hardly stay seated. The poster measures 77 x 107 cm and was printed by Vercasson in Paris. It belongs to the tradition of French thermal bath and tourism advertising.
On your wall: Its warm oranges and reds and its playful figure suit a kitchen, dining room, hallway or study, especially where vintage travel and advertising posters are already on display.
