À vingt ans is a woodcut made by Félix Vallotton in 1894. Vallotton was a Swiss and French painter and printmaker, linked with the Nabis, and he played an important part in the development of the modern woodcut. Across his work he favoured a calm, unemotional realism, and his prints show how much can be said with a handful of bold, simple forms. The title, which translates as 'at twenty', points to a moment of youth.
On your wall: A woodcut like this suits a study, hallway or bedroom, particularly in a spare, minimalist interior where a single considered piece can hold the wall.
