This photograph by Karl Blossfeldt takes the delphinium as its subject, a plant he approached with the close attention that marked his work. Blossfeldt was a German photographer and sculptor, best known for his close-up images of plants and other living things, gathered in the 1929 book Urformen der Kunst. Nature and the ways in which plants grow inspired him, as they had his father before him. The print is held in the Pinakothek der Moderne collection of his photographs.
On your wall: Its quiet botanical subject suits calm, uncluttered spaces such as a study, hallway or bedroom, particularly where a restrained, minimalist look is wanted.
