Le feu d'artifice is a work by Félix Vallotton, dated 1901. It belongs to his woodcuts, a part of his output for which he is remembered, as he played an important role in the development of the modern woodcut. Vallotton was a Swiss and French painter and printmaker, linked with the Nabis, and he approached his subjects in an unemotional, realistic manner. The title points to a display of fireworks, and the print is also associated with the 2022 book Affinities.
On your wall: Its restrained, graphic character suits a minimalist living room, a study or a hallway, where a single strong print can hold the wall.
