About this artwork

Karl Blossfeldt's Plantstudie of 1928 is a printed plate bearing three close-up photogravures of plant stems and buds. The images sit on cream paper, and the plate is numbered 16. Blossfeldt was a German photographer and sculptor, known for his close-up photographs of plants and other living things. He was drawn, as his father had been, to nature and to the ways in which plants grow. Looking at this plate, you can study the stems and buds in detail, one image beside the next.

On your wall: Its soft cream ground and restrained botanical subject suit calm spaces such as studies, hallways, bedrooms and light, minimal living rooms.
