This poster from 1913 advertises the Berliner Börsen-Courier, a Berlin newspaper. Its slogan suggests that both a man and a woman will find something to read in it. It was designed by Hans Rudi Erdt and printed in Berlin by Hollerbaum & Schmidt, the printing house where he worked. Erdt was a German graphic designer and lithographer, counted among the important figures of German poster art in the years before 1918, and known for his inventive handling of lettering. The poster shows how a newspaper presented itself to the public in that period.
On your wall: Well suited to a study, home office or hallway, where a piece of early twentieth-century German advertising design adds a retro note.
