About this artwork

Alphonse Mucha made 'Fruit' in 1897, while he was living in Paris during the Art Nouveau period. He was a Czech painter, illustrator and graphic artist, known for his richly stylised, decorative approach. That approach shaped his theatrical posters, particularly those for Sarah Bernhardt, as well as his advertisements, illustrations and decorative panels. Among the best-known images of the period are his designs. The title points to fruit as the subject, and the work sits comfortably within the decorative tradition he is remembered for.

On your wall: Its decorative character and fruit subject suit a kitchen, dining room or hallway, and it adds a vintage note to a living space or study.
