Roger Broders designed this poster in 1929 to promote Dunkerque, in northern France, as a destination on the Chemin de fer du Nord railway. It was issued with the local tourist board, the Syndicat d'initiative, and published in Paris by Lucien Serre. It was made as a colour lithograph and printed at a large size, roughly 100 by 62 centimetres, as a poster for public display. Broders is best known for his travel posters of French destinations, and this one belongs to that tradition of encouraging people to journey by rail.
On your wall: Its travel-poster character suits a hallway, study or living room, and sits well in rooms with a retro or vintage feel.
