Baumblüte an der Lühe translates as 'tree blossom on the Lühe', and the title tells us what Pechstein turned his attention to: fruit trees in flower by the water. He made it in 1919 in watercolour, with brush and India ink, on paper measuring roughly 47 by 63 centimetres. It is signed and dated in the lower left corner. Pechstein was a German Expressionist and a member of the Die Brücke group, and the medium suits a spring subject, as the washes of colour and the ink line can sit side by side on the page.
On your wall: A good fit for modern living rooms, hallways or studies where a spring landscape in expressive colour and loose line would bring some life to the wall.
