Roger Broders, 1928
A 1928 travel poster by Roger Broders, inviting viewers to the Krishna temple at Muttra in British India.
No VAT charged. Free delivery in Switzerland from CHF 99. Delivery details
This poster was made by the French illustrator Roger Broders in 1928 to promote tourism in India. The title points to the Krishna temple at Muttra, now usually spelt Mathura, and the work was produced for the Indian State Railways. It was printed in Paris by Lucien Serre & Cie as a colour lithograph, a process well suited to the flat, clear areas of colour found in posters of the period. The sheet measures 100 by 63 centimetres. It belongs to a wider group of railway and tourism posters from British India, and it shows how travel was presented to audiences abroad in the 1920s.
