About this artwork

This is Alphonse Mucha's poster for La Dame aux camélias, made for a production with Sarah Bernhardt. Mucha was living in Paris during the Art Nouveau period and became widely known for his stylised, decorative theatrical posters, particularly those for Bernhardt. This poster was reproduced as plate 144 in Les Maîtres de l'Affiche, the printed series that gathered notable posters of the day. The version shown here keeps its full paper margin and printed plate caption, which gives it the look of a period print.

On your wall: Its vintage poster character suits a study, living room, hallway or dressing area, especially where decorative, theatrical or Art Nouveau-inspired touches are welcome.
