Roger Broders made this poster in 1930 to promote travel between Chamonix and Martigny. It was produced for the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée railway, known as the PLM, and printed in Paris by Lucien Serre & Cie. It is a colour lithograph, about 100 by 62 cm, and its tall format is typical of posters made to be seen from a distance. Broders was best known for tourism posters of French destinations, including Alpine resorts, and this one belongs to that tradition. The Gorges du Trient and the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc area are associated with it.
On your wall: Its Alpine subject and tall, poster-like format suit a hallway, study or living room, and would sit well in a home with a taste for travel and vintage design.
