Supremus No. 50 is an oil painting on canvas by Kazimir Malevich, the Russian avant-garde artist who founded Suprematism, a radically non-objective form of painting he introduced in 1915. Malevich's work and writings helped pioneer abstract painting in the twentieth century. This canvas belongs to the collection of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, where it is kept. It invites a slow, open kind of looking, without a recognisable subject to hold on to.
On your wall: Its abstract, non-objective character suits modern and minimalist interiors such as living rooms, studies and hallways, where it can be given plenty of space.
