Raoul Dufy's The Regatta, painted around 1908 to 1910, shows a harbour regatta in full swing. Sailboats and rowing crews share the water, flags mark the occasion, and spectators gather along the quay to watch. It is a Fauvist work, and the painting carries the artist's signature, R. Dufy. Dufy is best remembered for scenes of outdoor social gatherings, and this one belongs to that tradition: a public occasion seen as a lively, colourful scene rather than a quiet study.
On your wall: Its festive harbour subject and Fauvist energy suit living rooms, dining areas and hallways, where a lively scene can bring movement to a modern interior.
