About this artwork

This is a 1908 landscape by Raoul Dufy, titled after the funicular at L'Estaque, the area near Marseille that appears in several of his paintings from that year. It is painted in oil on fine canvas and measures 38 by 46.2 centimetres. Dufy signed it in black at the lower right, set at a slight angle. Dufy is associated with the Fauvist movement, and this early work belongs to that period of his career.

On your wall: A modest landscape that suits a living room, hallway or study, particularly where you would like a view of the Mediterranean coast to add some character.
