Czardas Dancers is an oil painting on canvas by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, and the title points to a scene of people dancing the czardas. Kirchner was a German Expressionist painter and printmaker, and one of the founders of Die Brücke, or "The Bridge", a group that helped lead the way to Expressionism in 20th-century art. The painting is held today in the Kunstmuseum Den Haag.
On your wall: With its lively subject of dancing, it suits living rooms, dining areas and studios where a sense of movement and a modern feel are welcome.

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner was a German Expressionist painter and printmaker. He was among the founders of Die Brücke, or "The Bridge", a group that helped lead the way to Expressionism in twentieth-century art. After a breakdown during the First World War he left army service. In 1937 the Nazis condemned his work as "degenerate", and over 600 pieces were sold or destroyed.
