About this artwork
Gertrude Käsebier's 1902 photograph shows a group of children in a meadow full of flowers, one of them holding a cat. The image is soft in focus, in the pictorialist manner, which gives the scene a hazy, gentle quality and lets the figures blend into the grass and blooms around them. The print is mounted on card and carries Käsebier's signature below the image. It is an unhurried, quiet moment, and the title suits the mood of the scene.
On your wall: Its soft black and white tones and gentle subject suit a child's room, a calm bedroom, a hallway or a reading corner.
