Variation No. 10 was painted by Alexej von Jawlensky in 1916 and belongs to abstract art. It is made with oil paint on canvas and paperboard, and it is held today by the Buffalo AKG Art Museum. Jawlensky was a Russian expressionist painter who worked in Germany and belonged to groups including the New Munich Artist's Association, Der Blaue Reiter and later Die Blaue Vier. The title points to a work shaped as one of several variations, inviting you to look at how form and colour are handled.
On your wall: Its abstract character suits modern living rooms, studies and hallways, where it can be a quiet point of focus beside simple, uncluttered furnishings.
