About this artwork

Akseli Gallen-Kallela painted Wild Angelica in 1889 in oil on canvas. It is a landscape, and its subject is the wild angelica plant, Angelica sylvestris, seen in a rural setting. The painting belongs to the Finnish National Gallery and is held at the Ateneum. Gallen-Kallela is remembered as a leading Finnish painter around the turn of the twentieth century, and this early work shows him turning his attention to the plants and open ground of the countryside.

On your wall: A countryside scene with wild plants, it would sit well in a hallway, living room or study where you want a calm, natural note.
