About this artwork

Painted in 1878 by the Russian landscape painter Arkhip Kuindzhi, this work takes its subject from its title: a forest of pines with a river running through it. Kuindzhi, who lived from 1841 to 1910, was known for his landscapes. The painting belongs to the State Russian Museum in St Petersburg, and it has appeared in an exhibition of his work there, titled "Illusion of Light", held in the Benois Wing.

On your wall: A woodland and river scene that suits living rooms, studies and hallways, especially where you would like a calm, natural landscape on the wall.
