About this artwork

Agay is a colour lithographic poster from 1928, made to promote tourism in France. It was produced for the Chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée, the railway company, and printed in Paris by Lucien Serre & Cie. The subject is Agay, a seaside spot in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, and the poster belongs among the beach views of France that advertised travel to the region. The original is large, measuring 107 by 78.5 centimetres. Its designer, Roger Broders, was a French illustrator known for travel posters of fashionable resorts, and this sheet sits comfortably within that body of work.

On your wall: A seaside poster like this suits living rooms, hallways and holiday-minded spaces, adding a sense of travel and a nostalgic, sunlit mood to the walls.
