Angelus Novus is a 1920 work by the Swiss-German artist Paul Klee, and its subject is an angel. Klee made it as a monoprint, using the oil transfer method he had invented himself. The materials include India ink, oil paint and watercolour on paper. Walter Benjamin, Gershom Scholem and Fania Scholem are all linked to the work's history, and it is now in the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Klee's style drew on expressionism, cubism and surrealism, and this angel shows his highly individual approach.
On your wall: Its modern, abstract character suits studies, libraries, living rooms and hallways where a thoughtful, contemporary piece of art can sit at eye level.

Text based on Israel Museum.
Paul Klee was a Swiss-born German artist whose style was entirely his own. Over his career he drew on several movements, including expressionism, cubism and surrealism, and blended these influences into work that remains unmistakably his. For a Swiss customer, there is something pleasing in seeing a compatriot's imagination so distinctively at play.
