On White II was painted by Wassily Kandinsky in 1923 in oil on canvas, and measures 105 by 98 centimetres. It belongs to the collection of the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris. The work is abstract, so there is no scene to identify; instead, it asks you to respond to what is on the surface in front of you. Kandinsky is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of abstraction in Western art, and this painting sits within that body of work.
On your wall: Its abstract character suits modern interiors, such as a living room, study or hallway, where a considered piece can hold the attention of the room.
