Juan Gris painted Still Life with a Guitar in 1913, working in oil on canvas. The subject is a still life built around a guitar, a motif well suited to the Cubist approach with which the Madrid-born artist is closely associated. Gris lived and worked in France for most of his career, and his paintings are counted among the most distinctive of the Cubist movement. This work now belongs to the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where it hangs in Gallery 905.
On your wall: Its modern, abstract character and musical subject suit a living room, study or music corner, especially where a considered, contemporary touch is wanted.
