Paul Klee painted this work in 1920 and gave it the title "Engel bringt das Gewünschte", which translates as "Angel brings what was wished for". As the title suggests, an angel is its subject, a theme Klee returned to in a number of works. Klee was born in Switzerland and worked in Germany, and his individual style drew on expressionism, cubism and surrealism. The painting is now held in the Sprengel Museum Hannover in Lower Saxony.
On your wall: Its modern, abstract character suits a study, living room or hallway where you want a thoughtful, imaginative piece that rewards a second look.

Paul Klee was a Swiss-born German artist whose style was entirely his own. Over his career he drew on several movements, including expressionism, cubism and surrealism, and blended these influences into work that remains unmistakably his. For a Swiss customer, there is something pleasing in seeing a compatriot's imagination so distinctively at play.
