Paul Klee painted "Intoxication" in 1939. Today it hangs in the Lenbachhaus, which holds a number of his paintings. Klee was born in Switzerland and worked as a German artist, and his highly individual style drew on expressionism, cubism and surrealism. The title suggests a sense of giddiness or release, and it gives you a way into the picture, though you are free to read it in your own way.
On your wall: A good fit for modern interiors such as living rooms, studies or hallways, where an abstract work by Klee can prompt conversation and reward a second look.

Paul Klee was a Swiss-born German artist whose style was entirely his own. Over his career he drew on several movements, including expressionism, cubism and surrealism, and blended these influences into work that remains unmistakably his. For a Swiss customer, there is something pleasing in seeing a compatriot's imagination so distinctively at play.
