This is a poster by Jules Chéret, dated 1897, promoting Quinquina Mugnier, described in its own wording as a grand apéritif available in all cafés. The name Frédéric Mugnier and the town of Dijon appear in the title. It is a colour lithograph, printed at the Imprimerie Chaix, in Chéret's workshop at 20 rue Bergère in Paris. The poster is tall and narrow, about 247 by 87 centimetres, and was produced in two sheets. Chéret was a French painter and lithographer, often called the father of the modern poster.
On your wall: Its drinks-poster subject and tall, narrow format suit a dining room, a kitchen, a home bar or a hallway, wherever a touch of vintage character is welcome.

Jules Chéret was a French painter and lithographer who became a leading figure in Belle Époque poster art. His work in this field was so influential that he has often been called the father of the modern poster. His name remains closely tied to the colourful, eye-catching street posters of that era.
