This is a poster for La Farandole, a ballet in three acts presented at the Théâtre National de l'Opéra in Paris. Jules Chéret made it in 1884 as a colour lithograph, and his signature appears on the sheet. In the scene, dancers perform in front of a Roman arena. The lettering names the ballet's creators: Gille, Mortier and Merante, along with Dubois for the music. The sheet shows some signs of wear, which add to its period character. Chéret is remembered as a leading figure of Belle Époque poster art.
