This is the front cover of the first number of Action, Cahiers Individualistes de philosophie et d'art, published in February 1920. Albert Gleizes, the French artist and theorist who helped shape Cubism, created the design. He wrote extensively about art, and his ideas were taken seriously well beyond France, including at the Bauhaus. A cover like this sits at the meeting point of image and ideas, which suits a journal devoted to both philosophy and art.
On your wall: It suits a study, studio or hallway, and works well in a modern interior where graphic work and a love of early twentieth-century art are welcome.

Albert Gleizes was a French artist, theoretician and philosopher who considered himself a founder of Cubism. With Jean Metzinger he wrote Du "Cubisme" in 1912, the first major treatise on the movement. He belonged to the Section d'Or, spent four important years in New York, and helped introduce Americans to modern art.
