This is a 1910 poster by Emil Cardinaux for the Jungfrau railway, set in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. It belongs to the tradition of Swiss rail and tourism posters that invited travellers to the Alps, a subject that suits the title's mountain setting. Cardinaux is the artist behind it, and the poster is part of the collection of historic railway posters held under the SBB Historic name. Today it offers a clear glimpse of how Swiss mountain travel was presented in the early twentieth century.
On your wall: A good fit for a hallway, study or living room where Alpine scenes and vintage travel graphics are welcome, especially in homes with a love of Switzerland or trains.
