Emil Cardinaux made this work in 1907, titled Thomasianum, Bern. It shows a group of ice skaters on a frozen surface, with a man in a white sweater at the front of the group. Behind them rise mountains, and a triangular marker stands in the background. The artist's monogram, E.C., appears in the image. The scene is drawn in colour, and its clear shapes and the sense of movement across the ice give it a lively, open feel.
On your wall: Its wintry subject and the crisp white of the sweater suit a hallway, a study or a living room that could use a fresh, cool note.
