About this artwork

This 1927 poster by Roger Broders promotes Grasse as a climatic resort, the town of flowers and perfumes, as its French title announces. It was made for the Chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée, the PLM railway, and belongs to a body of tourism advertising for the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. It was printed by Lucien Serre et Cie and carries its text in French. Broders was a French illustrator best known for travel posters that invited people to the Côte d'Azur and the French Alps, and this one sits comfortably within that tradition.

On your wall: A good fit for a hallway, living room, study or kitchen, especially where a retro travel poster adds a touch of Provençal charm and a sense of the south of France.
