Spring in a Hot Spring is a woodblock print made by Hiroshi Yoshida in 1940. Yoshida was a 20th-century Japanese painter and printmaker, regarded as one of the leading artists of the shin-hanga style and known above all for his landscape prints. This work is a small, horizontal composition, about 25 by 37 centimetres in its original form. It is now part of the Asian art collection at the San Diego Museum of Art, where it came as a gift from Colonel and Mrs. A. C. Johansson.
On your wall: Its gentle subject and landscape format suit calm spaces such as a bedroom, hallway or study, and sit well in rooms with Japanese or understated, natural interiors.
