Kumoi Cherry Trees is the work of Hiroshi Yoshida, a Japanese painter and woodblock printmaker of the twentieth century. As the title tells us, the subject is cherry trees, a much-loved theme in Japanese art. Yoshida is counted among the leading artists of the shin-hanga style, and he is especially known for his landscape prints. He travelled widely and brought a traditional woodblock approach to scenes from many parts of the world. This work is held in the collection of the Toledo Museum of Art.
On your wall: Cherry blossom suits calm, light-filled spaces such as a living room, bedroom or entrance hall, especially where a gentle seasonal touch is welcome.
