This is a watercolour from 1915 by the Swiss painter Augusto Giacometti, and its title tells us it shows an Italian landscape. Giacometti was born in Stampa, in Grisons, and became known for his work in Art Nouveau and Symbolism, as well as stained glass, murals and posters. He is also counted among the first abstract painters, which makes it interesting to see how he approached a landscape subject in watercolour.
