About this artwork

This is a sketch made in 1911 by Umberto Boccioni, one of the central figures of Futurism. Its title shows that it was a preliminary study for Those Who Go, part of his series States of Mind II. It is held in the Museo del Novecento. Boccioni was known for his interest in the dynamism of form and for breaking solid mass apart, and a study like this lets you follow that thinking at an early stage of a larger project.

On your wall: Its modern, abstract character suits a studio, a study, or a living room where a thoughtful piece with a sense of movement is welcome.
