"Wald Bau" is a work by Paul Klee, dated 1919. The title can be read as "forest construction", which hints at how natural forms and built structure meet in the picture. Klee was born in Switzerland and worked as a German artist, and his highly individual style drew on expressionism, cubism and surrealism. Seen in that light, this piece invites you to look slowly and find your own way into it.
On your wall: Its abstract character suits modern interiors such as a living room, study or hallway, where it can give a considered focal point.

Paul Klee was a Swiss-born German artist whose style was entirely his own. Over his career he drew on several movements, including expressionism, cubism and surrealism, and blended these influences into work that remains unmistakably his. For a Swiss customer, there is something pleasing in seeing a compatriot's imagination so distinctively at play.
